Who Is The Board?

THE AVERAGE AGE OF OUR HOA BOARD MEMBERS IS 72.4 YEARS OLD

Why is that significant?

-        This means that the board does not accurately reflect the diverse population of our community of homeowners.

-         The interests and needs of the broader community of homeowners are not being adequately represented.

How have they managed to maintain their control of the board?

-         A lack of interest from many homeowners in running for board positions stems from a belief that their interests are already being served.

-         Certain board members have employed "cumulative voting" tactics to secure their elected roles. They have successfully accomplished this numerous times and have served on the board for many years.

What exactly is cumulative voting?

-         This system a small group to concentrate votes, thus skewing board representation against the interests of the majority.

-         In the forthcoming election, there are 3 positions available, allowing voters to cast up to 3 votes for a single candidate. If all 168 owners participated (which is unlikely), it would take just 56 owners casting all their votes for one candidate could secure their election. Some current members were elected even with fewer votes!
